This year’s Kerr County Celtic Festival and Scottish Highland Games happens on October 8 and 9 in the Shadows of Stonehenge at 120 Point Theater Road in Ingram Texas. This two-day event starts on Saturday at 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM and on Sunday at 9 AM until 5 PM sponsored by the Hill Country Arts Foundation. Adults are just $10 a day for admission or $15 for the entire weekend. Children under 5 are free and children ages 5 through 12 are $5 per day.
Come enjoy the Texas Hill country Celtic heritage with songs, music, dancing and Scottish athletics. There will be several demonstrations and exhibits throughout both days with vendors displaying their wares, artisans exhibiting their skills and lots of amazing ethnic food, activities, and history of the Celtic nations. Attendees will enjoy archery contests, music, pipes and drums, dancing and much more.
The Highland games are hosted by the Texas Celtic Athletic Association and feature divisions for all classes. Games will include:
- Open capstone
- Light Hammer
- Heavy hammer
- Weight for Height
All participating in the games need to report to the tent at 8:00 AM on Sunday. On Saturday, men and women open classes will include games at 10:00 AM with an award ceremony at 4 PM.
Attendees will also enjoy a variety of Highland dancing, which is the traditional solo dancing of Scotland. This art and sporting event requires agility and endurance will be several competitions for different age groups.
The Pipes and Drums event features a workshop provided by Robert Chalk. There’s a $10 donation, all levels are welcome and sheet music is provided.
There will be a variety of events and activities for children as well including children’s golf, the hammer throw, the kilted dash, and much more.
