Tierra Linda Ranch is a very beautiful place to call home but we are pretty picky about our wildlife management. The intent of the homeowners association for Tierra Linda Ranch is to preserve and maintain the atmosphere, beauty, natural resources, and inhabitants of our area. All of these need to work within the concept of a “working ranch” and for this reason, the Board of Directors manages wildlife, exotics, and cattle to keep in compliance with the association’s covenants and restrictions.
The cattle operation is the second-largest source of revenue for the ranch and the basis for their agricultural exemption status. The purpose of the Board of Directors is to manage the wildlife to maintain the land and cattle operation. This symbiotic relationship is essential to the workings of Tierra Linda Ranch.
Wildlife in our area include Whitetail deer and exotics include the Blackbuck antelope and Mouflon sheep. Both the state of Texas and federal government state that exotics are to be managed as livestock so the Board of Directors is responsible for managing exotics in the same manner as cattle. Because of this, their annual wildlife management plan refers only to the Whitetail deer population.
Texas is home to about 3.6 million Whitetail deer, which provides ample wildlife viewing opportunities for residents throughout Tierra Linda Ranch. There are plenty of other wildlife around the ranch as well but the Whitetail is the most common. The Whitetail deer can be recognized by the white-bottom tail.
